Teabo United Methodist Church was established in 1870 by Welsh and Cornish miners from England who were brought to the United States as immigrants to labor in the mines. Long before 1870, and long before there was a church building, these men and women formed themselves into Methodist classes and worshipped as they had in England, meeting in their homes. In June 2019 Teabo UMC and Lower Berkshire Valley UMC were merged. The un-official name of the new congregation is Teabo Berkshire United Methodist Church; however the official name is Teabo UMC.
Teabo UMC is located in a rural area, approximately 5 miles north of Dover, NJ, a small, diverse urban area. Teabo UMC is a place of respite from day-to-day stress, an opportunity to renew and grow in the spirt of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through our Sunday weekly worship services, and a welcoming place for fellowship with one another. We are a community that is actively engaged in its faith, demonstrating strong leadership and meaningful worship experiences. We have robust outreach and mission programs and a commitment to serving others. We are constantly participating in many different activities for the community such as providing monthly food pantry donations, back to school donations, Easter baskets, collections for Christmas and many other activities that arise. All part of this caring activity. We welcome all who wish to worship at Teabo UMC in person or through Zoom. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month and have Bible Study during the year.
